hcr Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Policy

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility:

Safeguarding vulnerable adults is an integral part of our mission to promote their welfare and protect them from harm. This policy outlines the measures and responsibilities necessary to safeguard vulnerable adults who may be suffering or are at risk of suffering significant harm. All adults, professionals, and volunteers have a duty to safeguard vulnerable adults and promote their welfare.

Principles of Safeguarding and Promoting Welfare:

Effective safeguarding and the promotion of vulnerable adults’ welfare require collaborative efforts across multiple agencies and professionals, each bringing unique skills and expertise. Vulnerable adults at the greatest risk of social exclusion may need coordinated support from health services, education, social care, voluntary sectors, and other agencies, including justice services.

Key Responsibilities:

For those vulnerable adults who are suffering, or at risk of suffering significant harm, joint efforts are essential to safeguard and promote their welfare and, where necessary, to bring perpetrators to justice. All agencies and professionals involved must:

Be vigilant in identifying potential indicators of abuse or neglect.
Recognize the risks posed by individual abusers or potential abusers to vulnerable adults.
Share and analyze information to assess the individual’s needs and circumstances accurately.
Participate in regular reviews of the outcomes for the individual against specific plans.
Collaborate with parents and/or other carers, unless such cooperation is inconsistent with ensuring the individual’s safety.

Humanity Care Relief (HCR) Commitment:

HCR is dedicated to serving the needs of vulnerable adults and promoting holistic development and well-being. We are committed to providing a safe, caring environment with a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for all vulnerable adults who come into contact with our organization.

HCR acknowledges that it is the duty of each staff member, whether paid or unpaid, to prevent the neglect, physical, sexual, or emotional abuse of vulnerable adults and to report any abuse discovered or suspected.

HCR recognizes its responsibility to implement, maintain, and regularly review procedures designed to prevent abuse and to be alert to any signs of abuse.

HCR is committed to supporting, resourcing, and training those who work with vulnerable adults and providing necessary supervision. Additionally, we are committed to maintaining strong links with statutory social services authorities and other relevant agencies to ensure a comprehensive approach to safeguarding.

Procedures:

To ensure consistency and practicality, HCR’s procedures for safeguarding vulnerable adults will align closely with our procedures for safeguarding children and young people, except where legal requirements or the specific circumstances of an individual’s needs dictate otherwise.

Additional Provisions:

Risk Assessment and Management: HCR will conduct regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential risks to vulnerable adults within our operations and activities.
Confidentiality and Information Sharing: Information about vulnerable adults will be handled with the utmost confidentiality, shared only with appropriate personnel and agencies as required for safeguarding purposes.
Reporting and Investigation: Clear reporting channels will be established for reporting concerns, and all reports will be promptly and thoroughly investigated following legal and organizational guidelines.
Training and Awareness: Regular training sessions will be conducted for all staff and volunteers to ensure awareness of safeguarding policies, recognizing signs of abuse, and knowing the appropriate actions to take.

This policy underscores HCR’s commitment to safeguarding vulnerable adults and ensuring that our organization remains a safe and supportive environment for all.

Save Lives with Your Sadaqah & Zakat

We are a UK-based international relief and development charity. Inspired by Islamic teachings of empathy, generosity, and selflessness, we focus on alleviating poverty and suffering across the world. We operate a 100% Zakat Policy, which means every single penny of your Zakat will go to the victims of poverty, wars, and natural disasters.

Before you support our Food Appeal, Water Appeal, Gaza Emergency Appeal, Syria Emergency Appeal, Pakistan Floods Appeal, or any Emergency Appeal, remember to make the intention that you are donating for the sake of Allah first and helping your fellow Muslim brothers and sisters second. This is very important because as Muslims, whatever act of worship we do, we do it for the sake of Allah.

Along with our emergency appeals, we are working on some amazing projects which will, Insha’Allah, bring prosperity to many Muslim homes from around the world. Donate your Sadaqah and Zakat to our projects like Build a Masjid, Livelihoods for the Poor, Sponsor a Widow, Sponsor an Orphan, Sponsor a Nikah, Donate a Sewing Machine, or help educate the Ummah by donating towards education projects, Sponsoring a Hafiz, Sponsoring a Child in Education, or supporting young people in university and Islamic education. Donate with confidence, Insha’Allah, every penny of your donation is your Amanah, and we will try our best to spend it on people who are in need.

Every year, we as Muslims celebrate two seasons the most: one, Ramadan, and two, the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah. During these blessed days, we put all our efforts into pleasing Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى by performing good deeds. Here at HCR, we provide you with the platform to perform an important act of worship: charity. In Ramadan, you can donate to the Ramadan Food Appeal, and Ramadan Zakat Appeal, Donate Your Fidyah, Donate Your Fitrana, and Pay Your Kaffarah for Breaking Oath or Breaking Fast, especially during the blessed nights of Laylatul Qadr. In Dhul Hijjah, we are here to help fulfil your duty of performing Qurbani. Whichever cause you choose, choose it with confidence. Insha’Allah.
