Which Dua Can I Read for My Deceased Parents?
Losing a parent leaves a space that never truly heals but Islam teaches us that our love can continue through dua. When we pray for our parents after their passing, we honour their sacrifices, and we offer them a gift that reaches beyond the grave.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“When a person dies, their deeds end except three: Sadaqah Jariyah, knowledge which is beneficial, or a righteous child who prays for them.“
(Sahih Muslim)
Dua for Deceased Parents
Our Lord! Forgive me, my parents, and the believers on the Day of Judgement.
“My Lord! Be merciful to them as they raised me when I was young.”
O Allah forgive them. Have mercy on them. Grant them safety. Pardon them. Welcome them. Expand their graves. Wash them with water, with ice, with snow. Wash them from their sins, the way a dirt is removed from a white cloth. Grant them a better abode (in the hereafter) than their abode in the world. Grant them a better family (in the hereafter) than their family in the world. Grant them a better spouse (in the hereafter) than their spouse in the world. And enter them in paradise. And protect them from the tails of the grave, and from the punishment of the fire.
